Greetings NCS Alumni:

It is so exciting to be at Northside this time of year!  We have just come back from Spring Break and the Seniors are counting down to graduation.  I am sure you can remember what it was like to be finishing high school and getting ready to go off to college.  The class of 2009 will soon be included in the ranks of our alumni. Many wonderful accomplishments have been achieved this school year:

• Middle school placed 1st or 2nd in every category at Math Olympics
• 2 Students were chosen as National Merit Recommended
• 3 students were Pinellas County Athletes of the Year (the most of any school-public or private)
• An NCS wrestler placed 1st at state (first time in NCS history)
• 12 NCS track athletes have qualified for next week’s state track and field meet
• The Royal Ambassador Band received 44 superior medals in instrumental solo and ensemble assessments
• NCS had a record re-enrollment percentage
• 80 middle and high students accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior or rededicated their lives during Spiritual Emphasis Week.  Praise the Lord!!

Lastly, I appeal to all Alumni to help current NCS students who are in need.  As you know, we are in tough economic times.  We have had 70 NCS families apply for financial aid through Family Financial Needs Assessment (FFNA), the third party clearinghouse Northside uses.  The paperwork is back from FFNA and most families who applied qualify for some level of financial assistance.  Head of School Mary Brandes and Director of Advancement Tessa Madasz have done a great job raising close to $150,000 to award in tuition aid to these families, but it is simply not enough.  Therefore, we are establishing an alumni scholarship fund. 

If you would like to give to the fund, please send a check made payable to NCS and be sure to specify in the memo field “Alumni Scholarship Fund”.  We can also accept VISA and MasterCard by calling Director of Advancement Tessa Madasz at 727-541-7593 ext. 247.  Naming opportunities are available for scholarships valued at $5000 or more. We ask that you prayerfully consider helping our NCS families who are struggling.
