Elementary Library Birthday Club

We are excited to once again start the "Northside Christian Elementary School - Birthday Book Club." This will be a wonderful way to celebrate your  child's birthday, while at the same time, adding to the inventory of wonderful books available in the NCS Library.

Here is how the program will work:

1. The Elementary Library has provided a "Wish List" of books for the NCES Library. All books must be purchased in hard cover. The book list includes books for our Accelerated Reading program, biography, fiction, Newberry Award winners and Caldecott Award winners and Sunshine State Young Readers Award. Additional titles will be added when this list is sold out. All books can be purchased at most bookstores.

2. If you would like to purchase one of these books in honor of your child's birthday, you should call Mrs. Dee Knox at the NCS Elementary Library, 727-541-7593, ext. 246, to make sure that the book has not already been purchased. Mrs. Knox will keep a master list of book titles and the name of the family who purchased the book for the library.

3. After the title has been cleared, you simply purchase the book (hard cover) and deliver it to Mrs. Knox in the NCS Elementary Library.

4. Once the book is received at school, a "book plate" will be adhered to the inside front cover of the book with your child's name, birthday and the year it was donated. We will also include your child's school picture from that school year. Parents will not need to send in a photo from home.

5. Please don't tell your child in advance that you have done this!!! The week of their birthday when their class visits the library, Mrs. Knox will call your child up front and at that time, she will present the book and honor your child's birthday in front of their class. The child will then receive a certificate to keep. They will also be able to be the first child to check that book out.

6. Many of our students have summer birthdays and parents may want to honor them at another time during the school year. One example may be to honor their "1/2 birthday". For example, if your child's birthday falls on July 15th, you may want to donate a book in their honor on January 15th. If your child's birthday falls during one of the long holiday breaks, we would do their presentation either the week before or the week after.

What a wonderful way to honor our children! God has blessed all of us with a wonderful school, wonderful teachers and a wonderful library. Your support of this program will help make NCS Elementary Library an even better resource for each and every child at NCS.

PLEASE REMEMBER. . . . . . ALL BOOKS MUST BE PURCHASED IN HARD COVER.
