Attention NJHS Students and Parents:
As the school year is coming to a close, the NJHS is currently busy with many end of the year activities. We thought we would let you know of a few important items so that you can plan ahead and mark your calendars for these events.
Service Hours. Please know that NJHS students are responsible for fifteen (15) hours of community service work. Five (5) of these hours must be completed by next December, and the remainder of the service hours must be completed by the end of the 2008/2009 school year. Information about what constitutes community service as well as the community service contracts and log sheets can be found on a link on the Northside web site. To find this link, click on the “High School” tab, and scroll down to “Community Service”. Click on “Community Service Ideas”. At the bottom of the page, you will see the download for the contract and log sheet. http://www.nck12.com/hs/gc/gc-comsvc.htm.
Officers. NJHS elections will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, for any student who is interested in being an officer for the 2008/2009 school year. A president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer will be elected for next year. Any student who would be interested in being an officer should complete a paragraph stating why they feel they would like this position and what qualities they possess that would make them a good candidate for this position. All paragraphs need to be turned in to Mrs. Hamp or Mrs. Kelly by Wednesday, May 14th.
Walk for Life. The Walk for Life pledge drive is currently under way. This fund raising activity is to benefit the Pregnancy Center of Pinellas County. Students must have pledges of $50 or more to walk on Friday, May 2nd. We are hoping that all NJHS students will be able to reach this goal. We are also asking all NJHS students to bring in a case of six, eight, twelve, or twenty-four small (8 oz.) water bottles to share with the students who will be walking that day. These water bottles need to be brought in to Mrs. Hamp or Mrs. Kelly by Wednesday, April 30th.
Teacher Appreciation Week. During the week of May 5th, the NJHS will also be honoring the teachers at Northside Christian School during Teacher Appreciation Week. This week is planned with many exciting activities for the teachers. On Tuesday, May 6th, there will be a complimentary car wash, on Thursday, May 8th, there will be a luncheon provided for the teachers, and on Friday, May 9th, the teachers will be treated to a special dessert buffet. To help with these events, we would like all NJHS students to donate a dessert for one of these two days. To help us plan for these two activities, students can sign up with Mrs. Hamp to let her know what you will be bringing and when. We also still need a few parent volunteers to help with the car wash.
We are very proud of the NJHS and feel that they are working to make a difference in their community and school.
Thank you all for your support!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hamp and Mrs. Kelly
