Mr. Todd Donovan
My ministry career began in the late 1980's as the Music and Youth Director at Azalea Baptist Church. My teaching career began in 1992 at Northside Christian Middle and High Schools. I was hired to fill the shoes of amazing choral director, Ruth Brown. I taught MS & HS choir, drama, communication skills and Bible. I had the privilege of directing award winning middle school choirs and ensembles and formulated the SATB middle school vocal group, The Cambridge Singers.
Somewhere in these years, I took the Interim Music Director position at Azalea Baptist Church- a one year commitment that stretched into six. In 1996 I transitioned from Azalea Baptist Church to Northside Baptist Church as a part time contemporary worship leader while remaining full time at NCS as a teacher. In 2002, I left NCS and became the full time Worship Pastor at Northside Baptist Church, a position I held until summer of 2017.
During all of this, my opera career began in 2006 with my first production of the new St. Petersburg Opera Company. Over the next ten years I sang principal roles with that company as well as Opera Tampa and Winter Opera St. Louis. I also sang seven summer seasons as the bass soloist at The Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt and Vienna, Austria.
My teaching career expanded to the collegiate level in 2010 when I was hired by Clearwater Christian College as their Adjunct Voice professor. This expanded to include teaching Vocal Pedagogy and Diction for Singers.
In 2017 I decided to make a career change and return to teaching once more. While music has been the pillar of my career, I have always been involved in art as part of my career as well. I have worked in stage production, design and construction, logo design and visual art. I am excited to be a part of the Northside Christian Elementary Faculty teaching Art.
