Jeff Goodwin is in his 15th year as head coach for Northside Christian School boys and girls track team and girls cross country team. Jeff attended Ballard High School in Louisville Ky where he was the 1981 state champion in the triple jump and that same year placed 5th in the USA National Jr. Championships. Upon graduation Jeff earned a full scholarship to Purdue University but later transferred to Eastern Kentucky University where he earned four conference championship gold medals. While there he qualified and competed for one NCAA Championship, three National Championships, and the 1988 Olympic Trials. Coach Goodwin graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Broadcasting. Upon graduating he spent 6yrs in the national guards 19th Special Forces group while working full time at Toyota Motors manufacturing plant in Georgetown Ky for twelve years.
In 2004 coach Goodwin joined the Mustangs of Northside Christian as the girls JV basketball coach and assistant track and field coach under Chris Wilmington. The next year he took over the Head coaching position and Since Coach Goodwin took over the program in 2005 the combined boys and girl’s squad has grown from less than 20 runners to over 100. The Boys have won three conference championships (2007, 2008, and 2010) , Six district championships (2007, 2008, 2010,2011,2013,2018) 1 Regional Championship(2018) and were the 1A State Runer-up team in 2018 . . The Girls program has won three conference championships (2008, 2009, and 2010), Nine district championships (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017,2018) four regional championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) and placed in the top five in the State on three different occasions. Coach Goodwin and his loyal assistants have coached hundreds of state qualifiers and his athletes have brought home close to 60 State Medals . He has had two State champions, Mario Ojeda in the 800m(2012) , two time champion Adrian Harris in the 400m(2017,2018), and the program produced the 2009, 2010, 2011,2012 Pinellas county runner of the year Katelyn Greenleaf.
Coach Jeff Goodwin holds the Level One Certification from the USA Track and Field committee and is honored to be named Pinellas County girls track and field Coach of the year in 2009 and 2010 . He is married to the lovely Karen Robinson Goodwin and they have three children, NaTasha, Victoria, and Jeffrey who all were integral parts of the Mustang track family
