• AppleWelcome To Jodi Hackett 's Classroom!

WELCOME TO  6TH GRADE MATH AND BIBLE WITH MRS. HACKETT

My name is Jodi Hackett. I teach  6th grade Math and Bible. On a more personal note, this is my twentieth year at Northside Christian School and my twenty-fifth year teaching. I have a husband, Kevin, who is a chaplain for Corporate Chaplains of America and two daughters, Nicole, age 27,  (a Center Director for Mathnasium of West Chase) and Alyssa, age 24, a high school math teacher at Indian Rocks Christian School. Alyssa is getting married in November!  I am very excited about this school year and what God has planned for us.

The best way to contact me is by email: jodi.hackett@ncsschools.com.  Please use the subject line when emailing me. I generally check my email several times a day.

Mainly, I would like you to be familiar with NetClassroom/Planbook.com and be able to log on to check your student’s assignments and academic progress. You should have received an email that has your password and log on information for NetClassroom. It also includes a password and username for each student. I speak with my students the first week of school about getting online and being responsible to look at their grades and assignments. You can get more information on NetClassroom from the office. I will email a link to all parents to get on Planbook.com to see the assignments I post.

Your child will be given homework regularly in math. The homework is written on the whiteboard on the left of the room. What is on the whiteboard should be written in the agenda daily. Sometimes, I change the original assignment on NetClassroom/Planbook.com. Ultimately, your student is responsible for what is on the board in the classroom. We generally begin the assignments in class. Each student is REQUIRED to show his/her work in math. This includes all steps and processes to complete the problem.  This is mandatory and the student may not receive any credit at all if the work is not shown.

Please check out your student’s textbook. There are answers to the odd problems in the back of the book. There are many examples per lesson. Extra practice problems are located in the back of the book.

For math, the weighted categories are as follows: Quizzes-25%, Tests-50%, and Homework–25%. For Bible, the weighted categories are as follows: Quizzes/Tests-40% and Homework/Classwork-60%.

In Bible, there will be a memory verse quiz every other Friday and a unit test every other Monday. We will use the New International Version of each verse that is on www.biblegateway.com. If there is no school on Monday, the test/quiz for the week will be the following day, Tuesday. Your student will use the Purposeful Design book. His/her homework grades will mostly be taken from the book (copying and filling out the pages) and from other work done in class.
