The elementary school focuses on developing the whole child. Strong curriculum choices including Abeka Math and Reading challenge students to achieve at high levels. The majority of our students are reading above grade level and accelerated math begins in fourth grade allowing students to reach beyond grade level expectations. Our Terra Nova test scores are well above the national average, and each year more than half of our sixth grade test scores allow students to apply for the Duke Tip program.

We offer three classes per grade. Each day students are instructed in the core subjects of reading, math, science, social studies, Bible, and language arts (which includes cursive instruction). Each week students enjoy enrichment classes including art, music, computer lab (block coding begins in kindergarten), physical education, library, Spanish, and science lab. Technology integration takes place through the use of classroom SmartBoards, iPads, stem kits, and Promethium tables. Northside Christian elementary students compete and place well in the annual ACSI spelling bee, Math Olympics, art festivals, speech meets and various writing contests.
Character counts! Each grade level in elementary is required to complete at least one service project a year. We want to teach our students to think of others before themselves. Each grade levels focuses on different groups of people for example: kindergarten focuses on the hungry and homeless, first grade the elderly, second grade the veterans, third grade first responders, fourth grade they build a bed for children their age that have none, and fifth grade they focus on children in the foster care system.

We want parents to be involved in the classroom and participate in field trips. Volunteer hours are not required at NCS but there are plenty of opportunities to be involved. If working with children, you must have a level two background check. We hope you will check us out and become part of the family!
